Improving Operational Performance FY02- FY07
One measure of progress is whether hospitals have achieved progress in addressing recommendations from the performance improvement consultations. In the figure below 90 percent of the hospitals have achieved some or substantial progress in addressing their specific recommendations. Those reporting no progress (10 percent) have been reduced by half for years three and four of the project. Some changes in hospital follow-up by the consultants may contribute to this result.
Some of the more common performance improvement strategies recommended to hospitals include:
- Developing a swing bed program;
- Improving the functioning of the business office;
- Improving outpatient services; and
- Improving the fiscal performance of medical practices.
