Health Information Technology (HIT) Readiness Assessment
The HIT Readiness Assessment offers a standardized and structured way to assess a hospital's readiness for HIT adoption. The goal of the Assessment is to provide a launching pad for hospitals to gain clarity about their unique HIT challenges and build upon their strengths. This assessment process takes approximately 2-3 months and involves a three-part strategy including:
- Initial Assessment Interview
- Attitudes and Skills Survey
- Results Debriefing
The Initial Assessment Interview includes evaluation on the hospital's degree of clinical standardization, financial readiness, leadership, and organizational culture. This session provides an opportunity for open dialogue, education, and self reflection. A report based on the findings is generated for the hospital. The Attitudes and Skills Survey is completed in order to thoroughly understand a hospital's attitudes related to HIT adoption and assess related computer skills. An on-line survey is available for all employees to complete during this part of the process. This analysis provides a comprehensive view of the hospital's attitudes and skills, which helps pinpoint areas of strength and areas of concern according to staff type (clinicians, clinical support staff, and administration). The Results Debriefing presents findings from both the initial interview and the attitudes and skills survey.
