Project Purpose:
The purpose of this program is to seek out active and retired miners and other individuals with COPD, and other occupationally related lung diseases; provide primary care (including screening, diagnosis, and treatment); provide education and counseling to the patient and their family (including anti-smoking education); provide patient care and coordination (including individual patient care plans for all patients); and to provide pulmonary rehabilitation.

Project Service Area:
This program serves the 6000 retired coal miners and 3500 active miners from the over 58 active coalmines in the state of Alabama, their families, and other individuals with occupationally related lung diseases.
